- 15-Apr-2013 CalConnect Announces new Membership Categories and Interoperability Test Event Participation Fees:
CalConnect has established new membership categories for vendors in the less than $5M annual revenue range, and for emergent vendors with less than $1M annual revenue. The Emergent Vendor category has a very low initial membership fee with a 3-year staged fee leading to a full commercial vendor membership, and pays a lower Interoperability Test Event registration fee. Only one member representative is permitted for an Emergent Vendor member. Interoperability Test Event fees have also been adjusted to the nearest $100 to rationalize them, addtional participant fees raised slightly, and non-member interoperability test event fees changed. - 15-Apr-2013 Registration is open for CalConnect XXVII:
Roundtable Technical Conference and Interoperability Test Event, June 3-7, 2013, hosted by The University of Wisconsin
in Madison, Wisconsin.
- 22-Feb-2013 Reports from CalConnect XXVI:
The Report on Roundtable XXVI and Report on Interoperability Test Event XXVI are now available. The expanded format and content of these reports supercedes CalConnect Minutes, which has been discontinued.
- 19-Feb-2013 CALSCALE Ad Hoc Committee:
CalConnect has established the CALSCALE Ad Hoc Committee to determine changes and extensions necessary to iCalendar to allow recurrences to accommodate non-Gregorian calendar rules, and will develop a draft specification to be submitted to the IETF for broader discussion within the entire IETF community. The Ad Hoc is intended to complete its work and report out at the CalConnect meeting in June.
- 11-Feb-2013 TC TASKS has been established following the report-out of the VTODO Ad Hoc Committee. The TC's Charter is to "Extend the functionality of the iCalendar and specifically VTODO object model to provide enhanced support for tasks including needs such as project management, smart power grids and business task scheduling, in a way that allows a calendaring system to manage the data and calendaring clients to display and change it."
- 23-Jan-2013 The VPOLL: Consensus Scheduling Component for iCalendar internet draft
has been submitted to the IETF by TC FREEBUSY.
- 10-Jan-2013 CalWS-SOAP SOAP Web Services Protocol for Calendaring V1.0 has been published as a CalConnect Proposal by the XML Technical Committee. This document defines a SOAP protocol implementation of the abstract Web Services API for Calendaring.
- 26-Dec-2012 Version 2.1 of the Calendaring and Scheduling Glossary of Terms has been published: Version 2.1 adds 20 new terms including Autodiscovery, Consensus Scheduling, Event Publication, Managed Attachment, Timezone Service, VAVAILABILITY and VPOLL.
- 13-Dec-2012 Consensus Scheduling Workshop: CalConnect will hold an open workshhop on Consensus Scheduling
at CalConnect XXVI on January 30, 2013, at Oracle in Santa Clara, California. The workshop is open to non-members and
to those who are not registered for the Roundtable.
- 26-Oct-2012 CalConnect Minutes #15: The most recent
issue of the CalConnect Minutes newsletter, covering Roundtable XXV,
has been published.
- 15-Oct-2012 VTODO Ad Hoc Committee:
CalConnect has established an Ad Hoc Committee to review the state of the VTODO component of iCalendar, together with
outstanding requirements and use cases from other current work. The committee is to report out at Roundtable XXVI
and will recommend possible future work in this area to CalConnect.
- 27-Sep-2012 DHL Express Joins CalConnect:
The Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium welcomes
DHL Express as a member of the Consortium.
- 11-Sep-2012 New Directors Elected: Two new Directors have been
seated on the Board of Directors, replacing Kellie Hunter of PeopleCube and Pat Egen of Patricia Egen Consulting, whose terms were up and
were not standing for re-election. Our new Directors are Ciny Joy, Oracle, and Scott Mace, HealthLeaders Media. Mr.
Mace is also known as the author of the Calendar Swamp Blog.
- 06-Aug-2012 New Steering Committee Members Elected:
Following the 2012 Steering Committee election, we have four new members on the Steering Committee:
Andrew McMillan (individual member), Carnegie Mellon University, Intand, and
Kerio Technologies. They join existing members Apple, Oracle, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the University of California.
Stepping down were NASA, Patricia Egen Consulting, PeopleCube, and the University of Wisconsin.

The IETF has published Scheduling Extensions to CalDAV as RFC 6638; see
https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc6638.txt Congratulations to Bernard Desruisseaux and Cyrus Daboo for their hard work, and also to the
members of TC CalDAV for their support and contributions.

CalConnect has established TC-AUTODISCOVERY to develop a protocol for
the autodiscovery of services based on internet standard protocols.

- 13-Oct-2011 CalConnect XXIII host confirmed: Apple Inc. have confirmed they will host
CalConnect XXIII on January 30 - Feburary 3 2012 at their headquarters in Cupertino, California.
- 10-Aug-2011 CalConnect Artifacts Repository:
CalConnect has established a code artifacts repository as a place to publish code artifacts such as schema. The first
schema set published is the iCalendar in XML Schema (xCal) developed with and in support of the OASIS WS-Calendar
effort.
- 08-Aug-2011 xCal (iCalendar in XML) published as RFC:
The IETF has published XCal, the iCalendar in XML specification, as an RFC. See http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6321. Congratulations to the authors and to TC-XML for their hard work.

- 17-Jun-2011 CalConnect announces special registration fees for CalConnect XXII:
For CalConnect XXII, special reduced registration fees will be in effect for non-members for
the Interoperability Test Event and the Roundtables. A special registration fee will also be
in effect for members who are not calendaring vendors. Please see
CalConnect XXII for more information.

The host presentation at CalConnect XXI by NASA Ames was on
Schedule Optimization and finding habitable planets: The Kepler Mission. The presentation is
posted on our website and linked from the blog entry referenced above.
- 02-Jun-2011 CalConnect XXI Timezone by Reference Testing:
During the Interoperability Test Event at CalConnect XXI last week, we did initial testing of implementations
of the Timezone Service Protocol and timezones by reference. See our blog post CalConnect XXI: Timezones by Reference.
- 18-May-2011 CalConnect adopts Creative Commons and Apache Licenses:
CalConnect will now publish new and updated documents and other material under a Creative Commons license or,
for code artifacts such as schemas, the Apache 2 License, replacing its prior terms of document
availability. The intent is to make it as easy as possible for CalConnect material to be used,
by publishing under standard and universal license terms. Please see

CalConnect has published a major revision and update to its Index to Calendaring and Scheduling Standards.
This page provides links, titles, and very brief abstracts of Calendaring and Calendaring-related
standards, specifications, and guides. CalConnect intends to keep this page as up-to-date as possible and
welcomes corrections and suggestions for updates.

TC USECASE has published the new version of the Calendaring and Scheduling Glossary of Terms. Originally published
